WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol, commonly abbreviated to CBD, is one of over 100 known, isolated chemical compounds that exist within the Cannabis Sativa plant. Along with Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is one of the most well researched and commonly used of these compounds. Unlike THC, CBD does not create a psychoactive “high” and is not known to have any negative effects. CBD engages with our body by reacting with an internal regulatory system known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system is found in all humans, animals and plants and is responsible for regulating numerous physical, neurological and psychological functions within our body such as, but not limited to, sleep, pain, appetite control.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

CBD’s exact relationship with the endocannabinoid system is still being researched. It is known, however, that CBD acts differently to THC in the body, by not binding to the same endocannabinoid receptors in the body.

CBD is widely believed to regulate our internal ECS and aid it in achieving homeostatis.

CAN I USE CBD TO TREAT A CHRONIC CONDITION?

We do not promote the use of CBD or any CBD-derived products in order to treat a chronic medical condition.

HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE?

Dosage of CBD depends on what you want to use the CBD oil for, and other factors such as your body weight and physical proportions. As a result, we would say that it is difficult to suggest a single dose that is applicable to all. We would suggest starting with a daily dose of 2-4 (between 10-20mg) small drops sublingually (under the tongue) prior to bed or first thing in the morning so that you can measure the effect that the dose has on you.

Please consult our recommended CBD dosage guide here.

IS CBD SAFE TO USE?

CBD is non-toxic and recent research has shown that is has no effect on blood pressure, heart rate or body temperature. Research has also shown that regular use of CBD is tolerated by the human body.

DOES CBD BUILD A DEPENDENCY?

Recent controlled studies have shown no links or signs of dependency to CBD, with no signs of withdrawal.

IS CBD ADDICTIVE?

CBD is non-addictive and non-habit forming.

IS HEMP THE SAME AS MARIJUANA?

Hemp and marijuana both come from the same genus Cannabis AND ALSO the same species Cannabis Sativa . This means that both come from the same plant, however, what differentiates them is their genetic lineage, how they are grown, and their intended purpose.

Hemp is used to describe a Cannabis Sativa plant that contains only trace elements of THC, which is the compound that causes a psychoactive effect, and is grown for a specific role. Typically, Hemp will have a higher ratio of CBD to THC. It has been grown for centuries for industrial purposes such as making oils, homeopathic remedies, topical treatments such as skincare, as well as being spun into fiber which is used for clothing, paper, construction materials and much more.

Marijuana plants, on the other hand, contain higher levels of THC and are usually bred for recreational and also medicinal purposes. For example, medicinal marijuana can contain anywhere between 5-15% of THC, with specialist recreational strains containing upwards of 20% THC. These high THC strains will usually have very little amounts of CBD, except in the case of certain medicinal strains.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULL SPECTRUM CBD AND ISOLATE CBD?

Full Spectrum refers to a CBD product that has been extracted from the entire plant. This means that the resulting product will contain a “Full Spectrum” of all the cannabinoids that the plant contains. Typically, a full spectrum CBD product will contain a range of cannabinoids, lipids, terpenes amongst other by-products. The precise profile of a full spectrum CBD depends entirely on the plant that has been used. For example, if you extract oil from plant that is rich in CBD and low in THC, it will generally provide you with an oil that reflects the plants cannabinoid profile.

CBD isolate is a specific extraction of just CBD, hence the term “Isolate.” CBD Isolate is not “Full Spectrum” and will not contain any other cannabinoids, resulting in a 95% and upwards purity level of CBD.

A CBD Isolate product can never be “Full Spectrum” as it only contains a part of the cannabinoid content of a Hemp plant.

Our CBD oil is Full Spectrum and uses all parts of the plant.

IS FULL SPECTRUM CBD BETTER?

CBD is just one of many cannabinoids found in hemp. When a product retains all of the compounds extracted from the plant, it is known as full spectrum. Some of these others compounds include phytocannabinoids such as THC, Terpenes, Vitamins, Antioxidants, Essential Proteins, Omega fatty acids Minerals and Flavanoids.

The significance of using a “Full Spectrum” product is that when these compounds are combined, they work synergistically to provide an overall greater net benefit. The overall therapeutic effect of all of the compounds combined is far greater than the sum of its parts.

HOW DO YOU GUARANTEE THE PURITY OF YOUR CBD?

The hemp that we farm is grown, monitored and processed according to strict EU regulations governing Industrial Hemp. All products are third-party tested at the University of Milan and come with reports that display cannabinoid levels and percentages. These certificates of analysis, as well as technical documents relating to extraction methods, temperatures, terpene profiles can be supplied upon request.

Our products contain THC levels that are far below the legal amount in the UK and EU and are grown and monitored regularly according to European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) standards.

WILL CBD HAVE A PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECT AND GET ME HIGH?

CBD will never get you “high”. The “high” associated with Cannabis comes from the level of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) in the product. THC is known for causing psychoactive effects when ingested. CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive and reacts differently with your endocannabinoid system. In fact, when higher levels of CBD are combined with specific levels of THC and the other compounds found in Cannabis (otherwise known as the entourage effect), the CBD can actually negate the psychoactive effects of THC, resulting in a more therapeutic, and holistic experience.

WILL CBD REACT WITH MY OTHER MEDICINES?

Please consult your GP if you have any concerns about taking CBD products alongside your current medications.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS TESTED ON ANIMALS?

No. And they never will be.

ARE THERE ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS FROM TAKING CBD?

None that we know of or have experienced.

CBD has not been linked with any life-threatening or dangerous adverse effects.

If you have any concerns, please contact us at help@mistercbd.co.uk or contact your GP/Physician.

WHERE DO YOUR CBD PRODUCTS COME FROM?

All of our CBD is extracted from Hemp that is grown organically in our 2 farms in Southern Italy. The hemp and all products derived from it are fully compliant with EU Legislation governing the growing, production and sale of Hemp.

IS CBD OIL FROM HEMP THE SAME AS CBD FROM HEMP SEEDS?

Not all CBD oils are made to the same standards and quality. In recent months, there has been an influx of CBD products in the UK. Many cheaper CBD oils, including some that can be found on the high street, are not made from extracting CBD from the entire plant. In many cases the oil extracted is from Hemp Seeds, which leads to a cheaper, less beneficial product.

We hold our CBD oil to very high standards.

IS YOUR CBD OIL ISO CERTIFIED?

Yes. We hold our CBD oil to very high standards and it is certified at source to ISO9001 standards.
